And especially as you’ve just had your nails done, we’re often more careful than we normally are when washing.

But a nail technician has taken to TikTok to reveal that actually we are all washing your hands wrong.

The New York City nail technician from The Bronx posted a video to her Tiktok account ‘thebrillionway’, demonstrating the correct way you should be washing your hands, especially when getting your nails done.

The video was uploaded with the caption ‘Please. From all nail techs. Scrub them good, we say this for a reason.’

She explained that this is “how nail techs want their clients to wash” and revealed that it’s really important to scrub your nails.

And scrub them hard.

So if you’ve been avoiding the nail brush on the side of the basin, you might want to have a re-think.

She explained that it’s crucial to use the nail brush to scrub your nails and demonstrated that you need to use soap on the nail brush.

She showed that you need to brush the nails quite firmly, side to side and in a circular motion.

You also need to scrub underneath the nails (if they are long) and your palms too.

Once you have scrubbed your nails and hands, she said that you then need to dry them well.

She uses a piece of kitchen roll to go around each individual nail, ensuring that they are dry.

So if you just effortlessly dry yours with a hand towel for two seconds, you also need to switch up your hand washing game.

Who knew?!

Another user noted that this hand-washing technique “looks painful”, but she confirmed: “It’s not. It actually feels really good and fresh when you’re done.”
