A CONNECTICUT high school was reportedly placed on lockdown as police rushed to the scene to secure the campus.

Orville H. Platt High School in Meriden was reportedly lockdown just before 9am on Tuesday due to a reported active police investigation.

There is no official word on why the campus was reportedly placed on lockdown; however, officers are expected to be on campus for several hours.

No additional information regarding the lockdown was released.

Video from the scene showed a heavy police presence on the high school campus.

Multiple calls by The Sun to the Meriden Police Department were not immediately returned.
