What Is Crystalline Silica?
Silica, often referred to as quartz, is a very common mineral. It is found in many materials common on construction sites, including soil, sand, concrete, masonry, rock, granite, and landscaping materials. The dust created by cutting, grinding, drilling or otherwise disturbing these materials can contain crystalline silica particles. These dust particles are very small and invisible to the naked eye. When inhaled, even in very small amounts, silica dust can cause serious health hazards. Each exposure to silica adds to the lung damage.

What Is Silicosis?
Silicosis is a disabling, irreversible, and sometimes fatal lung disease. When a worker inhales crystalline silica, the lungs react by developing hard nodules and scarring around the trapped silica particles. If the nodules become too large, breathing becomes difficult and death can result. There is no cure for this disease, but it is 100% preventable.

Get Compliant
Whether you are concerned about the health of your employees, your health, compliance or increasing productivity, Bosch has developed PRO+GUARD protection systems. In order to move toward compliancy and protection, it is critical that every component in the system is designed to effectively remove dust. Bosch dust collection systems can reduce airborne dust, helping to create a safer and healthier working environment.

Protect Yourself & Others
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued a final rule to curb lung cancer, silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and kidney disease in Americaʼs workers by limiting their exposure to respirable crystalline silica. While using power tools with a dust attachment/ accessory and dust extractors with the right filter, exposure to silica can be drastically reduced. The new standard went into effect on June 23, 2016, and employers are required to comply with all obligations of the standard by June 23, 2017.

Does the job well!I bought this to break up old cracked & settled shop floor concrete 3-6″ thick. It has done an excellent job of breaking it into hand sized pieces. It works surprisingly quick. It is heavy but not overly difficult to handle. Everything worked smoothly & methodically without any troubles or hassles. My hands did not tingle using it 1-2 hours at a time. I was also impressed with the bosch bit I ordered with it. I have broken up a 24×30 area & the bit looks barely worn/used. I would buy both again. Make sure to use ear plugs & a good dust mask when using.

Powerful, works greatThis was reasonably priced and works like a charm. My guys were able to make quick work of a concrete slab to get to the drain lines underneath.

Did not work new out of the boxBought two of these units to help after a natural disaster. The one from the other vendor worked. This one did not work out of the box. The Bosch service rep in the Phillipines could not tell me if they test them before they go out the door, but either they did not test this one or something happened since then because it doesn’t work. He explained all that I need to do to get service. Now it is on me to get it boxed up and delivered to FEDEX store and wait a few months to see what happened. Very disappointed. Did not expect that from a Bosch tool.

Great toolThis is a great item to have when you install fence. You never know what’s in the ground when you sell a fence. This makes it not matter. It will destroy an old foundation or a concrete ball left behind from previous buildings or fences. A must have for the tool collection.
