Excellent “Must – Have”I had purchased this saw for its portability and small size; and have fallen in love with its ability to precisely cut very small wood mouldings. Being in the woodworking business, I have packed large and heavy 12” saws to and from job sites for years. But this little jewel has started seeing more of the job sites and hours of shop time. It’s basically a 7 1/4” version of the popular 12” compound sliding miter. I use the 5ah batteries with it and they rarely get tired. It’s very easy and light to pack around and I love the lighted line feature. I mostly keep a very fine blade on it and have found it useful in cutting a wide range of hardwood mouldings. However, I have found it most useful and logical, with certain shop made auxiliary fences, tables and such, to use it for small mouldings and trims that I would have before only wanted to use a hand saw miter box. For me, it has been a great purchase!

Dewalt 20volt 7 1/4 slideBought this to have something smaller in my truck than my corded 10″ makita slide. This saw wont take the place of a higher end saw but is sufficient for most easy trim projects. Rpms could be a little higher and stacked batteries do give it a tad higher rpms. Biggest complaint is visibility on the right side of the blade is poor. Bottom line is i would buy it again if I broke it.

nice small saw for quick jobsI carry this in my service truck just for cutting small amounts of trim here and there but honestly it is pretty capable even with the small blade so I find myself pulling it out even for some bigger jobs, it really is portable, much much lighter than my big 12″ dewalt and having it be battery powered is so nice. only gripe is the blade it comes with is garbage but that is always the case with any saw, they send them out with the cheapest blade possible, wish they wouldn’t do that because some people will never go out and actually buy a good blade so it just makes the product come off less good than it really is. put a decent blade on this dewalt!!!

A must have!I bought a stand, suggesting you do same. Great saw, very very accurate and quiet, only thing I can complain a little bit is that the slide lock isn’t very strong and easily loosened but that said this tool is great!! Every one on my crew loves it, I should of bought 2!

Great investment for small imprecise thingsGreat for that quick repair or bathroom job upstairs, but not super accurate. You won’t be doing any net fit custom flush cuts with this unless you take lots of time zeroing the bevel and get a nice blade

Broke blade cutting plastic!Loved the size of the saw and portability, but shocked by the inability to cleanly cut a piece of plastic. Never had an issue with my 12 inch Dewalt. Guess too much to expect from a 7 inch saw with an elaborate base.

Great choice!Contractor since 1985; retiring progressively as I finish renovating our own house. I’m into the Bosch, Dewalt, Makita for my main arsenal. Needed a portable Sliding miter saw. This one is a great second saw for portability on the four levels from attic to basement and into tight spaces. Absolutely no regrets.Hi highly recommend this, and all Dewalt products I have purchased so far.PROS:ValuePortability: Balance OK – Weight OKErgonomyGood Power / Battery RatioCONS:Original blade gives rough edges: after a day I replaced it wit a 60T Diablo blade, and I’m happy. So Not really a Con of the tool itself, but a Dewalt courtesy failure.Note:Alignment off by 3 deg out of the box, but very easy to rectify: loosen the 3 screws holding the indented arced plate and move this plate slightly to align it with your square against the blade and the back fence.I highly recommend this tool, within the purpose of its designed qualities and limitations.

Good for what it isThis saw does not disappoint AS LONG AS YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. Pretty accurate out of the box, decent build, and it is certainly light weight. As a professional custom home contractor, this saw works well for punch list type items or very small uncomplicated trim jobs (with paint grade material). This saw lives in a punch-list work van and is very handy when corded power is an issue and you just need a few things cut. Would I use this as an everyday compound miter saw? No – but I don’t believe that is what it was designed or built for.

Light weight and accurate90% of all my work tools are Makita 18 and 36 volt platform.I was looking for something lighter than my 12″ Bosch Compound miter saw for quick trim projects. After reading reviews on everything from Makita, Milwaukee, Ryobi ect the one that stood out from the crowd was the Dewalt.I purchased it along with a second 5 amp battery. This saw is light weight and cuts effortlessly. A few minor adjustments were needed out of the box to sqaure the fence to the blade. At less than 31 lbs this will become a great addition to my collection. Probably only have 25 hours on the saw but seems to be of good qaulity so far. Worth checking it out.
