Super fast shippingCPO surprised me, I ordered item early Thursday afternoon, they shipped it that day and I received it the next day via UPS. Thanks! Used it on a small project to practice, tool works great. It seems to be built very well, it is heavier than I expected, but that is a good thing!

Easy to useI’m a licensed contractor and sometimes it’s difficult to get other trades to come and do the smaller jobs that need to be done. This tool will make you feel like you can be a plumber, even when you don’t want to be. My job went from a few joints, then increased and now I’m repiping a 100 year old farm house. The tool is not cheap, but it pays for itself in time and money when you’re under a house in a tight area.

Great ProductGreat product. As a plumber I appreciate that Milwaukee no longer has a monopoly on expansion tools

The only tool for PEX-A expansionThis tool is awesome. It works great and is fast. The tool comes with expansion heads for 1/2, 3/4, and 1 inch pex fittings. This kit has no battery or charger and since there were Dewalt batteries in my shop it made sense to get the bare tool. Plumbed an entire utility room with a pex manifold only took about 2 hours and would have been an all day job in copper. The hand operated tool is good for a here and there but not as good for 50 connections on a full re-plumbing job and this power expansion tool makes this job seem way too easy. Thats a good thing.Be sure to keep the cone portion of the tool clean and lubed with the special lubricant which comes in the tube. Remove the expansion head and clean the inside of the expansion head and the cone and apply lube. If you use too much lubricant then it will seep through the expansion head and get inside the pex tubing which does not seem to be an issue. Just wipe off the expansion head of the excess and keep working. Too little lubricant would shorten the life of the expansion head. It also has a hook that you can mount on either side and the head comes with a hook already. The hook on the head seemed a bit unhandy to use and preferred to use the hook mounted at the battery end of the tool and it made for a more natural grip when reaching for the tool when hung on your tool belt.Milwaukee makes a tool and seems like the head of the tools are identical. One may directly compare the two and for my use it made more sense to maintain battery compatibility.

BUY! BUY! BUY!I can’t recommend this enough not only the tool but the whole Uponor pex system. I held off since Milwaukee was the only one for awhile with the expander tool and it’s a bit of a luxury item for myself since I am not a plumber but a pretty serious DIY’er, but I will never go back to copper. I already had tons of dewalt batteries so 250 wasnt a huge investment. The only copper work I do now is to sweat the copper to pex adaptor so I can run pex the rest of the way. This system is life changing. No hot flame, no slow cutting, sanding/cleaning, fitting, fluxing, sweating. just cut (super fast with pex cutter) expand, fit. BOOM water tight seal in seconds. The only thing holding this system back is no big box stores sell the right pex (a) or fittings. I have to go to a wholesale dist. or order online which is a little inconvenient and requires more planning but holy crap what an amazing system. 1 job and this pays for itself plus its pretty much dummy proof. No more finding joints with small drip or missed joint. As long as you push the ring and fitting all the way its a done deal. UPONOR you need to get your stuff into HD so its easier to get. Otherwise just go to pex universe or supply house dot com.

Game changerCould not find these anywhere for at least a month as they were all back ordered. Checked Amazon every few days and finally got lucky, bought one of two available, checked back that night and they were sold out. Now I am not a professional plumber but have done and do lots of plumbing repairs, renovations, and installs for myself and others. I was wondering if it worked as well as all of the hype, it does. It is ridiculously easy to use and saves tons of time. Friends were so impressed that they are waiting for them to get back in stock so they could get one. Makes installation of fittings a breeze. Feels as durable and robust as any other DeWalt tool. If you are thinking about one, don’t hesitate, just do it. Found lots of fittings at supplyhouse.com. I don’t work for them, but they had great prices, inventory, and service. Watch any video on YouTube and you will see what I am talking about in regard to ease of use, time saving, and durability of the fittings connections.

This tool is fabulousFirst the plumbing shop stated I would need to hire a plumber with the “special 5000 dollar” spreader. Then thanks to YouTube found out that a homeowner could easily do the job yourself. Selected the unit without battery and charger as it worked with all my other Dewalt tools. Little bit of a learning curve but wow, this tool is sooooooo slick and easy to use. Well built and extremely very HD. Would recommend this tool very highly for all doing their own Wirsbo-Pex water applications. I am even going to use the 1″ collar for air lines in my shop. Great choice on this one.

Works Very Well – Excellent Service from AmazonExpander works exactly as described. God quality, solid product. Description is a little vague on what you get in the tool only set – comes with the tool, 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ heads and food safe grease in a really solid case. Have already used it on Uponor pipe / rings and had solid connections with no leaks. Takes about 11 expansions to give you the 10 seconds or so you need to align on the EP or Brass fittings. One issue I had is that it came with two 1/2″ heads and a 1″. Called Amazon and, after going through a few agents, they immediately sent out a replacement product at no cost which arrived within 2 days, and I called on a weekend. New product was fine.Only annoying issue with the tool which many have commented on is the light. Stays on for about 3 mins which is both useless and annoying. None of my other DeWalt tools do this. Guess once the warranty expires I can cut the wires. Unclipping the battery and locking it in again turns the light off. No idea if this really makes a difference to battery life, just a picky design flaw.We have the Milwaukee version at work and I would say the DeWalt is equal, heads are also interchangeable. All comes down to which tool sets you own.Would recommend this product.
