Solid meter, but wish it had a nicer carrying case.Just unpacked this product today. It is quite expensive so I’m only giving 4 starts for value, but Fluke has great equipment that lasts for lifetime so we will see…The only other things I have to mention is that I end up feeling like I had to buy a separate Fluke “T5-KIT Tester Accessory Starter Kit” To get the alligator clips and none automotive probes.Everything from the kit barely fits in the soft case in come in. This Chinese made soft nylon case is disappointing. The pictures for this product case are slightly misleading as it also shows an older style, seemingly higher quality case.

My First and most used toolAs a lifetime electronics tech, I’ve always used a Fluke meter over the years. I purchased this one simply to replace my old, worn out Fluke 77. I’m using it all the time and enjoy the additional capabilities is has to offer. Thanks so much!!!

Best bang for buck, but upgrade your probesI’ve been enjoying this multimeter for the last several months now. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for serious bang for buck value in a quality build.I am an electronics hobbyist and primarily use this tool for benchtesting and troubleshooting audio and guitar amplifiers. For my purposes there, this kit is perfect. I only begin to gripe when I start working on electrical jobs, where I find the included probes to be weak at best. It would be customer centric for Fluke to think about a cat IV or V rated probe set with this kit. That being said though, this meter is still where it’s at!

This is the one you’ve been looking for.Love it! Fluke is the best for a reason.Picking which one you need for your task can be tricky, but this one does everything I need and more. Tough reliable, tested in the field. Leads work great, case fits nice. I will be adding more, just can’t beat the fluke. If you think it has too many features, look into the 117 or the 101. Don’t kid yourself, it makes a difference, just buy the fluke.

Great product but did not get everything as describedThe meter itself is a great instrument and I have no issues with anything I received. However, the kit description did not match what I received…did not get the case, the electronic tests leads or replacement tips, magnet for hanging the unit while using it in the field. Who would I talk to about obtaining these items? I paid for them so I would think its only fair that I get them. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Great meter! This thing is awesome. I got this as more of a hobbyist tool, so keep that in mind. It comes with some really nice probes. The clamps are great for, well, clamping, and the needle tip probes can get into pretty small spaces if you’re needing to probe surface mount components. Also the carrying case is cool, nothing special, fairly lightweight and thin material, but better than nothing.

Fluke 179Haven’t used it to much except checking motors and regular terminals. But the meter leads are nice and it feels sturdy. Everything on it is very clear and so far I am pleased

… truck tech and use my meter always and really like all the options this meter has like back lighting …I needed a professional meter since I am a truck tech and use my meter always and really like all the options this meter has like back lighting and a magnet that allows you to hang the meter anywhere you are working so you can see the readings easily especially when your under a truck testing resistance on fuel sending units and need three hands to do your job. I recommend this meter to true techs who work in the field diagnosing electrical problems.

Great fluke qualityIt’s a fluke. It’s expensive. You get what you pay for and when it’s a fluke you get a lot. Every now and then I think I should have paid the little bit extra and gotten the 87 but I have yet to need more functionality than this provides. Very happy with it.
