Finds breakers and fuses, splice errors, dead shorts, wires in walls ceilings and floors, and buried conductors. Works on energized or de-energized circuits (0-600V AC/DC). IDEAL INDUSTRIES INC. SureTrace Circuit Tracers feature a rotating display. Regardless of the position the tracer is in, the display will orient itself in an easy-to-read vertical position. Audible indication intensifies in tone/pitch with signal strength. The circuit tracer also features super-bright OLED display which indicates a numeric value between 0 and 99, providing a quick and easy way to determine signal strength. Long battery life allows for 25 hours open circuit testing or 6 hours short circuit tracing. Easy-to-replace AA batteries provide the tracer with 4 times the tracing power.

    Definate learning curve, but can perform miracles.I am a professional electrical contractor. I’m still learning this tool, but I am convinced of it’s value. I haven’t found it 100% reliable in tracking wires, but that might be user error. It has MOSTLY, however, done what I hoped it would. I have traced a U.F. wire underground to a short in a hidden box that I might never have found. I have tracked damaged wire to the exact bolt a carpenter drove through it, and traced it through the drywall one the other side to the precise spot to cut for repair. I have quickly traced circuits back to breaker panels customers forgot they had. I have saved TIME. A LOT of time. Time is money, and you learn that in this industry. Stop wasting time, stop opening up box after box while troubleshooting and looking like a fool. This is a very expensive tool, but I do recommend it if you can swing it.

    Good product for labeling panels without knowing anything about product.This unit is not easy to use at first. but the good thing is, you will be able to label panels, locate circuit really fast. No need to flip breakers anymore. Also it can tell you if an outlet bos is part of the circuit or not, so you dont have to take things apart that is not. also can locate path of conduits.So,you can get your feet wet as you learn how to use. comes with cables to help assist in locating problem, etc.Only drawback is both units have 4 aa batteries,and you need to shut off asap or batteries will die. there is an auto off but maybe like 5 or 10 mins or something like that.

    Easy to use, Saves hundreds of labor hoursMy most favorite electrical tool ever purchased. Easy to use, makes chasing down single outlets on 3pole commercial circuits fast and accurate.Currently updating as-builds in a commercial building and this tool has saved hundreds of man hours trying to chase down over 30 panels. I wish I would have bought it sooner.One thing to note, it eats batteries so make sure you have plenty on hand while working with the unit.

    Works like it should. Only giving three stars because they do work, when they are new.Am a electrical contractor , we have used the old version of this, old one went down, Ideal would not fix it. Very disappointed with Ideal. New one was so much , after spending $$$ on three units and them not willing to repair them.But found this one on here, for a few dollars less. Am happy with the purchase.But to think that you have to buy new because of no support. Is crazy, not like it is a $100 unit.Update 05/08/2020 My last one went down, now I have 4 units not working , and no repair service .So I am now going to greenly CS-8000 , which I am ordering this Monday , has lifetime warranty and looks like it does more and coming in under $800 for the better model. I will let you know how it works .Very disappointed with Ideal and the no care service .
