Good ToolSo I am biased positively here a little because I already had a landworks earth auger (which I absolutely LOVE for fence post work) and a high capacity (4ah) battery. This year I had a lot of forest fire damage to clean up on steep hillsides so I took a chance on this winch.I don’t know how close to the 1000lb suggested capacity I came, but I was able to easily haul large bundles (easily several hundred lbs) of branches, logs and debris up very steep slopes with no problems. The 100 ft of rope is pretty adequate and held up to a couple of weeks of daily use in dirt, ash and brush. The winch itself has worked well as well. In my case I tied it into the tow bar on our truck, which worked well. Strapping it around a tree is fine too, but you’re at the mercy of the location of the tree.I took one star off for not having a remote control, but using this was generally easier with two people anyhow. One to tie the bundles and guide from below and one up top at the winch to keep the rope flowing through and nicely piled for the next batch. That said, without a remote control I would NOT advise using this for super high tension jobs like stump pulling, etc.Overall a nice, versatile tool. Not the heaviest duty item for getting heavy vehicles out of a ditch, but totally great for log hauling, firewood harvesting or brush clearing. The 2ah battery isn’t a super great pairing (loses power/strength much faster), but if you already have a 4ah battery or are willing to invest in one you’ll find the capability and longevity to be solid.

High torque, ok battery lifePull 800lb machinery up a steep hill no problem. Capstan is a 2 handed operation. I wish the unit was designed with a secondary tensioner pulley to keep the rope taught against the capstan spool. Operation is a bit awkward single handed as you need one hand to hold the power button down and another to take up used rope and not let if go slack. A bit tricky for 1 person to operate on a long pull as the capstan will lose all torque transfer to rope if you let the slack end loose. Battery seems good for about 5-10 minutes under medium-hard load. Included rope seems to be decent quality and pretty abrasion resistant so far.

Good product. Worked well.Used the winch to pull a wild hog off a 12 foot ravine and it did the job well. The auto shut off switch worked well everytime the pig gets snagged on a rock. The battery is not the best but good enough for my needs. Recommend to buy an extra battery if you will use this consistently. Good product. Will buy again.

It wasn’t strong enough for gathering firewoodI wanted this for gathering firewood. My plan was to drag the fallen tree close to my truck and then cut the tree up for fire wood. The idea of using a really long rope for continuous dragging capability would have been awesome, the reality was trees get snagged up with other trees or rocks and then it shuts off with the overload safety on it.

It does what I wanted, and does it we’ll.So far, it is doing well. I use it as a boat winch, but works well for it’s intended purpose of moving heavy objects. I like the auto shut off switch, it saves me from worrying about overworking the motor. Overall, very happy with the product and would recommend it.
