Beautifully crafted. Well built, quiet operationI have three of these fans! All well built, quiet and easy to clean

Quiet, steady fan. For its size, moves air through many roomsEven though it has a more modern look, it fits well with a more traditional setting.Love how it is so quiet. Good light. Not too dim or too bright.Recommend

Nice fan…bad experienceLet me preface my experience by saying I’ve put up many ceiling fans, and this was the easiest install, despite somewhat cryptic instructions and drawings. Well engineered fan for the most part. So, after initial installation, I load up the remote, and immediately realized the provided 21A/12v battery was dead. Luckily, my local pharmacy had some in stock so off I went. I load up new battery, turn on the power, and voila…light works! Fan….not so much. I could hear the motor hum trying to move the blades, but nothing on any and all speeds, even reverse. I noticed if I try to spin the blades manually there is internal resistance and a scraping sound. As install was a Sunday, I filled out the {CONTACT US} form on the Minka website, which assured prompt reply within 24 hours. The following morning, I called their 1-800 number in the meantime, was informed they are “short-staffed in tech support…but someone will call in 30 minutes…”NINE HOURS LATER…still awaiting call-back, so I dialed again, finally talked to tech support and described my situation. I was told there is no troubleshooting given these symptoms, that blades should spin freely “like butter…” and advised to return to Amazon for replacement.Replacement install the following Sunday, and as I was taking the original back down, I removed the glass light dome and my hand brushed the blades, which now spun freely. Like butter! We’ve all heard nightmares about these screw-in- domes eventually coming unscrewed and crashing to the floor from the constant vibration, so I made sure mine was snug during the install. So, the culprit was that the dome, and if ratcheted all the way in, it presses up against the internal blade housing. A slight turn counter-clockwise maybe 1″ or so, and the blade spins freely. So now the replacement unit gets carted off to UPS store for return unopened. Thus, the fan itself is 5 star, the ratings reductions are for the unnecessary hassle: – poor QC on the 3rd rate battery provided with original unit – no response to online help form – no call-back from tech support to message left with human being – tech staff unaware of this engineering bugaboo – unnecessary order/return of replacement unitThus, the fan itself is 5 stars….the low rating is for the hassles associated with what should have been a minor issue

Very nice fans; a few minor quibblesI’ve installed many fans over the years, and have never before been so impressed. I bought three of these for bedrooms in my own home. The fans are nice and sturdy, with a good low overall profile, while still having enough room to draw air into the blades or push it out along the ceiling (when the fan direction is reversed). The movement is very quiet, with almost no vibration. The LED light is great. Good coverage of the entire room, with a nice low-profile globe. The color temperature is very warm for an LED, which is especially important for living rooms or bedrooms.Overall, I’m happy with my purchase. Nonetheless, I have a few minor quibbles:1) The LED light doesn’t dim very much. I have newborn twins, and I’d like a light that I could use to check on them without waking them — this is not that light. In my experience, LEDs don’t dim much anyway, but this light is made up of an array of many small individual lights. It seems like they could turn off some of them to get more dimming.2) I hadn’t noticed from the pictures online that the fan blades are kind of bland plastic that don’t quite match the oil-rubbed bronze finish I got. There’s enough difference in the color to give a nice contrast, but not so much that it attracts attention. Nonetheless, on close inspection it looks cheap. Structurally, they seem quite sound though.3) The bracket for the remote didn’t come with appropriate mounting hardware. I had to go get some #6 wood screws and wall anchors (the round heads on screws that usually come with anchors are too bulbous to fit). I think someone in the factory must have misunderstood what an anchor is, because the bracket came packed separately with a bunch of wire nuts, even though there were plenty of wire nuts packed with the bracket assembly.4) The bracket for the remote seems pretty flimsy. Certainly turning the light on while the remote is in the bracket feels like it’s going to snap the bracket. Personally I would prefer an option to get the built-in remotes that screw right into the wall like an ordinary switch.Still, overall I really like these fans.

Easy install, works well. Some odd noise.I love this fan. Once it was installed, my wife hated the “industrial” look! And she picked it out! I thought it was too pricey. There is no led bulb, just a built in LED circuit, which works just fine and gives off lots of light on the high setting. I question the replacement cost, if it fails. It SHOULD last years. There is a slight rotational noise, worse at low speed, and nearly gone at high speed. Manual states it may go away with more break in time. Since this mounts directly to the ceiling, there is no visible shake; it seems to be well balanced anyway. The 44″ size is just right for the breakfast nook.

annoying humming sound won’t go awayI really wanted to like this fan. The pro’s are that it does put out a lot of wind and has a clean modern look but the humming sound takes away from it all. I had the handyman out a second time to see if it just needed adjusted in the way it was hung, he made sure it was level and balanced. Still the hum. Then I took the glass cover off of the light and the hum went away mostly and when I put it back on came back. So I got creative and used the metal bracket from the light cover if you’re not using the light and put some silicone on the edges and glued a round piece of frosted plexiglass so the light cover wouldn’t weigh as much. It worked and the humming went mostly away just like when I took the glass off. Then this morning I turned the fan on and the noise was back. I fiddled with fixing it and getting the handy man out too long to return it so I’ll just live with it for now. Seriously doubt I’ll ever spend that much money on a fan again. Especially when I have fans that cost 1/2 that and work much better.
