IF YOU HAD ONE ALREADY, INSTALL IS FAIRLY STRAIGHT FORWARDNOTE THIS REVIEW MAY APPLY AND MAY NOT.We had our first Rinnai installed in 2008. Worked great, never without hot water…just loved it.Come the Freeze-magedon here in TEXAS two weeks ago we lost power for over 58 hours with temps down into the negative degrees.Needless to say, the freeze protection inside a Rinnai DOES NOT WORK when you have no power. It exploded with water freeze. (NOT RINNAI FAULT.)Anyway, once it thawed I determined it was toast I went to Amazon. Rinnai doesnt produce our old model. I researched and found an equalivant output, ordered it, received it and unpacked it.Plumbers here in Texas are booked solid for 3 weeks. So I unhooked the existing fixture, laid them side by side (ruined one and the new one) same exact size case…inlets for water and gas same. All I had to do was rebuild the gas line (using black iron pipe…the original was too rusty to reuse. Very carefully reattached unit and connected pipes (both water and gas. Open the water line, NO LEAK…Opened the gas line NO LEAKS…attached the power and controller wiring…TURNED ON THE WATER FAUCET INSIDE….WOW…HOT WATER BEGAN TO FLOW…I AM DELIGHTED…YOUR EXPERIENCE LIKELY WILL BE DIFFERENT THAN MINE…BUT I SAVED THE INSTALL AND THE UNIT ONLY COST $876 TO REPLACE…we paid about $3,000 for original plus installation.R

Simple to install, high output tankless water heaterThis is an exterior, propane-fired tankless hot water heater, so no ducting or anything. Put a fire stop through the wall and connected with 3/4” PEX to the plumbing previously supporting a 60 gallon electric water heater. This was very simple to install. Produces an endless supply (>9 GPM) of hot water at a constant 120 F. So far (90 days) no issues. The old tank water heater struggled to fill a jacuzzi tub. This does so with easy and very quicklydue to the high flow rate.I’d highly recommend this to anybody thinking about a high capacity tankless hot water heater.

Not enough hot waterThe media could not be loaded.
Frustrating to only be able to run one appliance at a time with hot water and it takes half an hour to fill up the tub for a hot bath. By the time it fills up the water is already starting to turn cool again.

Best water heater…….I have never owned a tankless water heater but I promise iwill never be without one again. This thing rocks. Water heats up all the way at the otherside of the house as quick or quicker then my old tank water heater. I would highly recommend this water heater.BTW – I have a 1780sq ft home
