Fantastic saw, garbage miter gaugeI’ve owned this for a year-and-a-half and have used it quite a bit. Shouldn’t be a surprise that they’d include a very cheap gauge with this saw. But it’s poorly designed, to the point that it will give you inaccurate cuts. There’s a significant amount of slop, or play in the miter slot, which cannot be adjusted. I’ve “hacked” mine to improve this, but it hasn’t fixed the issue entirely. I plan on making a better one myself eventually. If you plan on making dead-accurate cuts with this saw, you’ll have to take the time to go through the manual and adjust everything perfectly. AND buy/make a better miter gauge. With that said, it’s a fantastic saw that cuts through everything like butter. Softwood, hardwood, PVC, acrylic, plywood, not even aluminum slows the saw down (assuming you use the proper blade of course). Only issue is the garbage miter gauge

Great saw, but noisyMuch safer than my old bench saw – blade stops in about 3 seconds. Rip fence is a great design. This was listed in one review as one of the quietest bench saws, but it’s as loud as the old one. Of course electric motors tend to be loud – you should hear our food processor or mixer.

This is a beastI bought this to replace an older belt-driven Jet contractor saw I’d use in the field. I’ve used the DeWalt (same style/case), and it’s good, but the worm drive elevates this above any other saw like this. Yes, it’s basically an upside down circular saw, but if you’re looking for a lightweight, compact, & easily transportable saw to throw on job sites for smaller, hit and run type jobs, this is awesome. It’s also great for around the house when you just need to rip trim or anything DIY, esp considering it’s size & easy stowability. I wouldn’t necessarily be pulling this out for furniture making or things that rely on accuracy, but if you find yourself having to effectively rip 100 year old oak planks 1” thick, I can attest to this saw’s torque & power. Also, despite the case appearing that it came out if the same factory producing the DeWalt’s case, this one is better designed (mostly the accuracy of the fence & the small details like metal gauge rather than plastic on DW). Expensive, but worth the price if you need a highly portable table saw.

ENTIRE SAW, WORTH EVERY PENNY>Simple, Buy it if your looking for a job site saw. I have only used for about 10 days. I have been doing this since the early 1970’s. This has the best locking fence system. I have a EXACTA Fence on my Jet, and accurate when dialed in. I still measure with this saw but the gear drive fence. it’s width capability, it’s power. safety features, impressive. Comes with the Rivet on. Could be spelling wrong. I haven’t used all the stuff now put on saws, but this feature doesn’t get in the way, and I can see were it could assist in safety. The saw, the worm drive motor so far A+. I got the 8! 1/4″ It’s sturdy construction, yet light enough to pick up and put in the back of the truck. Don’t get me wrong, I loved my Bosch 10″ Still have, need to repair. It has the lift. Most of the time I never used up. Not easy for one guy to put in the truck. This skil saw I already have 3 features on it, that I don’t just like better but love better. This saw you cam get a lift. But the rubber cushions on the bottom of the frame on the corners, really grip my only 2×4 table. I was ripping 10′ long 2×10, the saw stayed sturdy with no support. I will build a tray like system to assure this, but I love it. THe push stick. the miter, gauge small but fine. I knew what size I was buying. I don’t need a saw that is close to the same footprint as my Jst cabinet saw. I can rip 40″ wide on that. If I still has a dozen men on the payroll I think I would still have 3 of these. Maybe one 10″ for larger complete homes. Very happy. Powerful bugger, great fence, I LOVE it.

Out performs all other small table saws I researched. This is an excellent well built and thought out product. Compared to my 25 year old 10″ Craftsmen, this saw is so perfect in all capacities. It adjusts and cuts like butter. The design is so extraordinary it is hard to comprehend they thought about everything and it accepts a Dado as well. I couldn’t be happier with the performance of this saw. The thoughtfulness of the design is really astonishing. I purchased the Skilsaw stand from Ace Hardware and then built a rolling frame to set it in using lockable rollers. Now I have to find more things to build. What a pleasure to see how tools like this have progressed. You won’t be disappointed, I am not.

Home remodeling.I wish I could give this saw more than 5 stars! Don’t underestimate its small size. Compliments my compound miter saw at the job site.

ImpressiveLike other reviewers, I’d all but made up my mind to get Dewalt’s 8.25″ table saw, but it was out of stock everywhere. I have one of their miter saws and never cease to be amazed at how accurate it is.If you’re considering this saw, I highly recommend downloading the user manual from Skilsaw’s web site. The detailed information in there sold me on this saw (ie, it can use a dado blade – Dewalt’s 8.25 cannot). And this saw does not disappoint at all.Out of the box, the blade and fence were square. The fence measurement guide was off by 1/16″, but easily adjusted. The riving knife was spot on. The 45 and 90 degree blade stops were dead accurate. For my first cut, I swapped the blade for a Diablo 40 tooth (one of the blades Skilsaw recommends). That ripped through 3/4″ plywood like a hot knife through butter leaving a cut cleaner than the factory edges. Even better, my Shopvac caught all of the saw dust through the dust port (no adapters needed, just plug in the 2-1/4″ hose directly into the saw). The only thing I do not like about the saw is the miter gauge. It has some play in the track and is pretty cheaply made (it was, however, set to 90 degrees exactly). I saw Dewalt’s in the store, and it’s not any better, so I guess that’s par for the course with these small saws. However, everything else is well thought out and feels high quality. All the accessories store securely onboard. The guards are easy to install and remove. The push stick storage spot is -right there- on the front just where you’d want it to be to grab it fast.It may be a different color than my Dewalt miter saw, but it’s in that league. Highly recommended.

Tough little jobsite sawAfter some research I picked this saw, easy setup, accurate out of the box. It’s first use was ripping 2×8 semi dry lumber, motor never bogged down, quick clean cuts. Very happy.
