FantasticThis is an expensive piece of equipment for your RV or camper, but very necessary. Amazon’s price is almost half of what it was at the RV dealer. Our very first time out, the unit saved us from potential damage twice. We plugged it into the power base, and it wouldn’t allow us to connect our camper because it detected an open ground. We called the maintenance guy and he replaced the outlet and the breaker. Later that evening, a storm came in, and the power to our campsite shut off. I checked the surge protector and it told me that it shut us down temporarily because of a power spike. 2 minutes later we were up and running with no damage to our electronics or electrical systems. That’s exactly what it is supposed to do! Fantastic purchase!

A Must HaveBigger than I thought it would be and seems very well built. Took a couple trys to figure out how to pair it with the register inside the motorhome but all is working well. I consider this to be a “must have” item to protect the electronics in anyone’s RV.

Faulty operation & poor customer serviceBought this Surge Guard 34951 a couple weeks ago and used it for the first time this weekend. Plugged the Surge Guard into the 50 amp side of the power pedestal at a campground and it interrupted the power within about 5 minutes but gave no code readout as to why it interrupted the power. After the 90 second (or so) delay, it let power through again for about 5 mins, then tripped it off again. Again, no code or reason for the interruption. After a repeat of this cycle for 30 minutes or so, I switched to the 30 amp side of the pedestal. Everything was fine for a while then the Surge Guard started doing the same thing on the 30 amp side but every 30 minutes or so, but again with no indication as to why. After talking to the camp host, and hearing about all the others RVs that had been using this site with no issues, I decided to just remove the Surge Guard and take my chances. I removed the Surge Guard and had no more problems. I called the Surge Guard manufacture’s tech support a dozen times and got the same message from somebody named Steve saying they were working from home because of the COVID but he “promised” he’d return my call! I left several messages over the next several days with Steve and others, and no one ever called back.I also bought the partner Wireless LCD display that’s supposed to link to the Surge Guard so you can see what’s going on with the Surge Guard from inside your RV, but, even though it did say it was connected, it never seemed to display any info regarding the status of the Surge Guard. Very dissatisfied with the Surge Guard, the remote readout, and the total lack of customer service from Southwire!

Great surge protector!Great product. Easy to use and install. A cool feature that I really like is that the display shows whether or not you have a voltage problem on either of the legs. That sometimes happens at campgrounds when the breakers go bad. I haven’t had any issues with it and it provides peace of mind that my investment is protected.

Piece of mind protection for RVThis was shipped really fast. I like the easy read lights. I also got the blue tooth screen so that I can see readings inside RV.
