Description
Wilkins 1 1/2″ Pressure Reducing Valve, Lead-Free, FNPT Union x FNPT. Designed for installation on potable water lines to reduce high inlet pressure to a lower outlet pressure. The integral strainer makes this device most suitable for residential and commercial water systems that require frequent cleaning of sediment and debris. The direct acting integral by-pass design prevents buildup of excessive system pressure caused by thermal expansion. The balance piston design enables the regulator to react in a smooth and responsive manner to changes in system flow demand, while at the same time, providing protection from inlet pressure changes.

Quality Product PRVThis is the exact brand (Zurn Wilkins 1″ NR3XL Pressure Reducing Valve) I had on before so replacement was super easy. No welding needed just had to purchase an additional washer for the opposite end that screws on our existing inlet valve pipe. I found the perfect washers at Lowes in a 2 pack since this only came with one washer for the one side. We found that having it screw on both sides makes replacement easiest. Our last PRV lasted around 7-10 years we believe. Here in AZ our water pressure is 105 PSI. We found the product needed replaced or a replacement kit when we heard the clanging pipes in the house then the softwater sprung a leak from the higher pressure so it was time to replace. The nice thing about this brand Zurn Watkins they have easy instructions on their website zurn.com or search YouTube videos to assist in putting it on correctly. Total time took 30 to 45 Mins to flush the main line and arrange the tools need to complete the job.

Great easy to install valve.I bought this to replace my old not working pressure reducing valve and I was suprise to hear that how easy and effective it was. It took like 5 min to install and the default pressure set is 50 which was perfect.

Missing parts / Bought 4 unitsGood price but two boxes were missing rubber washers and brass unions. I had some leftover brass unions & rubber washers from previous purchases so I’ve only taken off one star. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars due to good price. But if I hadn’t checked each box before installation I wouldn’t have known to procure extra parts beforehand and that could be a problem in the future if the job is far away.My guess is that because I bought 4 units they calculated I would have access to extra parts compared to a single unit end user so they offloaded the ones with missing parts on me. Didn’t like having to drive and spend time getting the missing parts from shop though.

Worth every penny! This was a far easier installation than the one it replaced. It brought my psi down from 85 to 60 with factory settings.

Easy swap outI removed the coupling nuts and replaced the item in place using the same nut. Saved on having to sweat the pipes.I had to buy another O coupler ring hence 1 star off.

Works, but wish it system components clearerI bought this to replace an old unit. It only comes with one brass nut and one washer, by the pictures I assumed it came with both. It’s very hard to find the second washer at hardware stores. I finally came upon a washer assortment made by oatey that had a similar enough washer at home depot. I give it 3 stars because of the pain to find an additional washer. I think it should state that clearly. After installation it worked fine. Tested at exactly 50psi just like it says is the factory setting.
